A California study estimates that cars 13 years old and older accounted for 25 percent of miles driven but 75 percent of all pollution from older cars and end of life cars donated to our Program help to take the most offensive polluters off of the road.

94% of the ferrous material in the automobile is recycled.  67% of the steel produced in North America last year was made from recycled content, the #1 source being end of life automobiles.

Steel is North America's number #1 recycled material. Each year, more steel is recycled than aluminum, paper, glass and plastic combined!
Every ton of steel recycled saves 2,500 pounds of iron ore, 1,400 pounds of coal, and 120 pounds of limestone

The more than 14 million cars recycled in 2000 alone would yield enough steel to produce 48 million steel utility poles, ­one third of the utility poles in the U.S.
