Host An Educational Event

At least 44 percent of women diagnosed with breast cancer are employed at the time of their diagnosis. Reach out to working women by holding a seminar or a meeting at your place of work. The Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation can provide items for you to sell to help with your fundraising efforts and we can also provide breast self examination cards and other educational materials to help your company spread the word. Members of the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource foundation can also be on hand to discuss the importance of clinical breast exams, mammograms and breast self-exams.

Flip Flop Friday

To put an interesting twist on a familiar concept, try coordinating a Flip Flop Friday. Allow employees to wear pink flip flops to work on a designated Friday if they make a donation to the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation. The Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation will provide breast self examination cards and other educational materials as well as pink ribbon shaped stickers to all participants and the employee that raises the most money will receive a special gift. We can also provide raffle items and door prizes to make your Flip Flop Friday a huge success!

Christmas in July (or any month)

A Christmas tree in July will certainly get attention. A “PINK” Christmas Tree will definitely raise breast cancer awareness!! Designate a certain month to host your Christmas in July (or any month) and announce to all employees, friends and family members that you are hosting a fundraising event for the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation. Anyone who makes a donation to the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation can participate in decorating your tree. Prominently display your artificial tree in your company lobby or other suitable area and decorate the tree with clear lights, pink ribbons and pink decorations. Top it with a huge pink bow and your company could win the prize. The Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation will be on hand to help decorate your tree and will provide your employees with breast self examination cards and other educational materials. A special gift will be provided for everyone who participates. Invite visitors and employees to write names on specially designed tags in memory of breast cancer victims and in honor of breast cancer survivors.

Pink Ribbon Cookoff

Often, organizations hold Cookoff events to raise money for charity. Try a “Pink Ribbon Cookoff”. Designate a special day and challenge your employees, friends and family members to bring in a pink food item. Any shade of pink will do but it MUST be edible to qualify for the prize! The Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation will be on hand to provide breast self examination cards and other educational materials and every “chef” will receive a pink ribbon awareness pin and a special gift. Challenge other departments within your organization to compete in the Pink Ribbon Cookoff!

These are just some of the many ideas for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Contact us and let us know how you will be participating this October! We will be happy to help you organize your event. Call us at 401-861-HERO (4376) or 800-549-HERO (4376), or email us info@gloriagemma.org
