Brave Kids was founded on June 9, 1999, by Kristen Fitzgerald , after the loss of her two children to catastrophic illnesses. The Brave Kids program has been approved by and is linked to over 110 health organizations such as: The National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners, The National Brain Tumor Foundation, the National Pediatric AIDS Foundation, United Cerebral Palsy, and the National Children's Cancer Society.

 

Our Mission   Our mission is to help children with chronic, life-threatening illnesses or disabilities.   Our Services   Brave Kids Provides...   1) Bravekids.org - the online community for children with special needs and their caretakers.

  • Message Boards to give emotional support to children with special needs and parents by connecting them to others in similar situations around the world.
  • Directory of Healthcare Resources based on zip codes for children with special needs. This enables caretakers to easily locate healthcare resources & support for ill children in their community.
  • The Most Recent and Accurate Medical Information for family members, as well as providing illness-related information to the children in a fun, interactive way so they can understand what's happening to them.

  2) Brave Kids Resource Centers to pediatric wards of hospitals, which enables parents to locate medical information and local resources while they are in the hospital with their child.   3) Community Outreach - Providing education and training on locating resources in the community for children with special needs.
