The Coalition Against Breast Cancer is proud to announce the inception of its Scholarship Program created to ease the emotional and financial burden experienced by the increasing number of children who have lost a parent/relative to breast cancer, or whose parent/relative is currently experiencing breast cancer or are children of breast cancer survivors.

Our goal in offering these scholarships is to acknowledge these children through their parents/relatives illness and award students who illustrate their ability to take an extremely difficult life experience, create a positive, character-building experience and to ensure the best possible future for themselves and encourage positive growth in the lives of others.

The recipients of these scholarships (minimum scholarship is $1000) will be chosen by C.A.B.C.'s selection committee and will be based on a personal essay, a letter of recommendation (not from a parent), financial need and academic achievement. Funds may be used towards tuition, room and board, supplies and books and other expenses incurred during the semester scholarship is awarded. The actual number of students selected will be determined based on the amount of funds available at the time of selection. To qualify, applicants must be either a graduating high school senior planning to attend or are students currently attending an accredited college, university or vocational institution in the Fall of 2007. Several students from one household are welcome to apply if all application criteria is met. The deadline for applications for Fall 2007 recipients is July 31, 2007 and scholarship winners will be selected and notified by August 31, 2007.
